SP Stone

Souix City, 1/11/13, 69/105

This is a big park that would be good for hiking. Too bad I came at the wrong time of the year. I could have parked and walked, but this was park #15 for the day and a couple of hours after I would normally be in bed. I would definitely return in better conditions.

SP Oak Grove

Hawarden, 1/11/13, 68/105

This is a woodsy park with hiking trails. Significant snow and park fatigue kept me from going to far on them. Oak Grove is partially on the South Dakota state line.

SP Mill Creek

Paulina, 1/11/13, 67/105

This park is on a small lake (a different lake for today). It has a playground and camping.

SP Wanata

Peterson Township, 1/11/13, 65/105

This park was closed and didn't even have a sign. I spent a few minutes looking for a back entrance with no luck. I did leave the car and physically enter the park where I found a prairie.

SP Trapper's Bay

Spirit Lake, 1/11/13, 64/105

Another view of the lake. I got stuck in the snow leaving, but I keep a kid's shovel in my car so I got out.

SP Pikes Point

Spirit Lake, 1/11/13, 63/105

This park has playground equipment and a stone shelter. The name is accurate due to the arrow pointing into Spirit Lake.

SP Mini-Wakan

Spirit Lake, 1/11/13, 62/105

There is a small lake here that rests on the Minnesota state line. The only road going through this park will take you into MN.

SP Marble Beach

Spirit Lake, 1/11/13, 61/105

I had trouble finding this one, but the people at the Dickinson County Expo helped me out. There is a lake here which almost appears to be frozen in time.

SP Templar

Spirit Lake, 1/11/13, 60/105

More apparently private housing overlooking the lake.

SP Orleans Beach

Sprirt Lake, 1/11/13, 59/105

Another small park overlooking the lake. There is a beach available during other times of the year.
